The 165 foot Big Manitou Falls, to the right in the photo referenced below, is Wisconsin's tallest waterfall. Little
Falls (the 35 foot Manitou Falls) isn't quite as tall but makes up for its lack of
height in that it is actually a twin fall, - a rather large rock formation splitting the river flow.
A pedestrian tunnel
takes you from the park's main picnic area under Highway 35 to short trails
that give you many views Big Manitou Falls from both sides of the river.
Little Manitou Falls are south about a mile on the highway or 1.5 miles on the
Nature Trail and Little Manitou Falls Trail.
How to get there:
From
Duluth-Superior, follow US-2 east over the bridge into Wisconsin. At the end
of the freeway US-2 turns left onto Belknap Ave. Stay with it to Tower Ave
and turn right leaving US-2. This becomes WI-35. Follow WI-35 for about 15
miles to Pattison State park. Follow the directions indicated by the signs
to the parking lot.
