Little River Falls is in South Mountains State Park in Burke County (about 18 miles south of Morganton). From I-40 exit 104 follow NC-18 south to Hwy-1913 (about 9 miles). This is also known as Sugarloaf Road. Turn right and continue another 4 miles to Old NC-18. Turn left and follow Old NC-18 4 miles to Hwy-1901, Wards Gap Road. Turn right and proceed to the State Park. Note: the park closes at dusk. It is also closed Christmas Day.

From the main parking area take the 'Short Trail' east to its end. The trail to the left is Little River Falls Trail. Follow it to the falls (half-mile on each trail).
