Virginia Falls
Glacier National Park

Virginia Falls is actually two falls. The upper drops 30+ feet into a rocky, narrow (about 25 feet wide) pool. Then, about 100 feet down stream is another smaller plunge of about 2 or 3 feet.

Trail head for Virginia Falls (on the same trail as St. Mary Falls) is at the Sun Point turnout (40.0 miles from West Glacier; 10.1 miles from Saint Mary). Head to the right at the lake than, shortly after the end of the lake, bear to the left (crossing St Mary River at the base of Saint Mary Falls). From this little bluff you get a great view down Saint Mary Lake. A little bit further and the trail angles to the left, crosses the bridge at the base of Virginia Falls and then meanders along the shoreline of the lake to the other end. The lake is only about 10 miles long but we estimated the trail to be at least 12 miles. At Saint Mary you can take the boat back to the Rising Sun parking area and campground.
