Lost Creek Falls
Lost Creek State Park
(northwest of Anaconda MT)

Lost Creek Falls as classified as a cascade. Maybe so but it is more like a giant pot boiling and when the snows are still melting - or after a good rain - Lost Creek shoots up in the air almost like a big fat fountain. They say it is only a 50 foot drop; it is amazing way water can do within 50 feet! Seeing it is certainly easy enough; it's an easy, 100 yard stroll from the parking lot.

How to get there:

From I-90:

  • Take exit 208 and head west on MT-1, toward Anaconda to the intersection of Hwy-273 (about 5.5 miles).
  • Turn right, go 0.2 miles then left following Hwy-273 to Antelope Creek Road (about 2 miles).
  • Turn left and follow Antelope Creek to a split 5 miles from Hwy-273.
  • Bear left at the split and follow Lost Creek Road to Lost Creek State park (about 2 more miles).

IF... you're eastbound on I-90:

Cross Elk Creek

  • We suggest you take exit 153 and follow the very scenic MT-1 up Flint Creek, by Georgetown Lake and on through Anaconda. The intersection of Hwy-273 is about 1.5 miles east of Anaconda on your left.
  • Bear left and go just 0.2 miles and Hwy-273 make sharp left to stay on 273.
  • Follow Hwy-273 to Antelope Creek Road (about 2 miles).
  • Turn left and follow Antelope Creek to a split 5 miles from Hwy-273.
  • Bear left at the split and follow Lost Creek Road to Lost Creek State park (about 2 more miles).

This is one of the few Montana State Parks that do not charge a day use fee. Your visit is free.
