Snow Creek Falls
Bonners Ferry Ranger District
(south of Bonners Ferry ID)

Snow Creek is fed by Snow Lake - a pretty Alpine lake - and about a dozen ice cold creeks. Springs abound here and the flow is year-round though somewhat diminished in the summer and early autumn. Snow Creek Falls is actually a pair, the upper which is more impressive, and the and lower which is trying hard to match its upstream sibling.

The trail to the viewing areas is almost a mile but features boardwalks over the challenging areas. It is a very easy stroll going down. Coming back to the road it's an extended uphill climb but they've provided benches for us older folks. This is a beautiful walk and the views of the waterfalls are worth the effort.

How to get there:

from US-2/95 northbound (e.g., from Sand Point):

• Follow US-2/95, through Elmira, past McArthur Lake (which will be on your left) to the split-off of Old US-2 (which will be on your left). If you cross the railroad tracks you passed the intersection by a little over 0.2 miles.
• Bear left on Old US-2 and follow it to West Side Rd (County Rd 13).
• Turn left on West Side Road. It will make a sharp right turn just before the railroad track.
• Continue on West Side Road, crossing the railroad track (about 1.5 miles from US-2/95) to Snow Creek Rd (Forest Service Rd 13). This is about 2.1 miles from US-2/95.
• Turn left and follow Snow Creek Rd to the Snow Creek Falls turnout where you can park.
