Copper Creek Falls
Bonners Ferry Ranger District
(south of Eastport ID)

Copper Creek makes a forceful surge, plumetting off a rocky shelf into the little cove below. Copper Falls is a bit out of the way by car but just a little over a half mile, very easy stroll once you park at the campground.

This short, easy hike to a spectacular waterfallfall is suitable for small children. There may be some leaflets at the trailhead (we couldn't find them but were assured they are there). You can rest assured that, if you stop by the District Ranger's office in Bonners Ferry (right on US-95) you can get not only the pamphlet but up-to-date information on trail and road conditions. (Or, you can phone 208-267-5561 and get an oral read-out.)

How to get there:

From US-95 northbound:

  • Driving north on US-95 past Copeland toward Eastport and the Canadian border you will pass Robinson Lake (on your left, then Moyie River Road at Good Grief (on your right).
  • About 2.5 miles from Good Grief you will cross the UP Railroad track.
  • About 0.4 miles more and you will cross the Moyie River and then, on your right you will see Copper Creek Road (#2517).
  • Make a hard right and follow Copper Creek Road for about 2.2 miles to the campground and trail head.
