Tallulah Falls
Tallulah Falls State Park
(Tallulah Falls GA)

Tallulah Falls, one of the deepest gorges east of the Mississippi River, has a lot of history. When we were doing our research to determine which waterfalls we would visit, we encountered several sources describing the "millions of steps to the bottom". Realizing that we would have to climb back up, we decided to pass on Tallulah Falls. True, we are in our seventies and you are probably almost half a century younger and in prime physical condition (though we aren't doing bad at all). But if you have young children - and they are really awed by waterfalls - be prepared to carry them.

Probably the besy summary of the history of Tallulah Falls is on the 'About North Georgia' web site: http://ngeorgia.com/parks/tallulah.html. We strongly recommend it even if you decide to not tackle the 'million' stairs. You can view the gorge in comfort with almost no effort - even see the waterfalls from a distance.

Perhaps someone will volunteer to submit a first-hand account of his/her visit to Tallulah Falls and we can publish it. Most of the reviews on this web site have been by other waterfalls enthusiasts.
